Description
"Common Mormon Butterfly, Framed" is an original fine art wildlife photograph and digital artwork by Sandra Huston.
Honored to be featured in the following Fine Art America group:
* New England Photographs - 11/8/17
I photographed this beautiful black and white Common Mormon butterfly at "The Butterfly Place", an indoor butterfly garden located in Westford, Massachusetts late in September. If you love butterflies like I do than you will have to visit this special indoor garden when you are in the New England area. Although smaller than "Magic Wings" it is still a beautiful indoor garden featuring butterflies from North, Central, South America and Asia. After uploading this original photograph I decided to add a few layers of artistic borders, with a transparent frame and a textured layer that resulted in this contemporary wildlife art decor for the butterfly lover to enjoy.
Fun Facts: Papilio polytes, the common Mormon, is a common species of swallowtail butterfly widely distributed across Asia. This butterfly is known for the mimicry displayed by the numerous forms of its females which mimic inedible red-bodied swallowtails, such as the common rose and the crimson rose. It is easy to differentiate the mimics from models by the color of their body—the models are red-bodied and the mimics are black-bodied.
