”Cosmos in Early Light” is an original fine art floral photograph and digital artwork by Sandra Huston.

I captured this beauty in the early morning light just as the sun was rising in my Lisbon Falls, Maine garden. After uploading the image I decided to add a digital textured layer to brighten the image and make the cream colored cosmos pop against the deep green background.

Cosmos are annual flowers with colorful, daisy-like flowers that sit atop long, slender stems. Cosmos bloom throughout the summer months into fall, and attract birds, bees, and butterflies. Cosmos is also October's birth flower and is native to scrub and meadow lands in Mexico where most of the 20 known species occur. All are members of the Asteraceae family, of which there are more than 23,500 varieties, including the aster, daisy, and sunflower family.
