After a particularly long cold winter I decided to go through my floral archived images captured from my garden in Lisbon Falls, Maine and upload this beautiful photograph of purple columbines. I than applied a textured layer with matching borders and a transparent digital frame for the public to enjoy. This contemporary styled floral artwork would look exceptionally beautiful reproduced as a canvas, acrylic or metal print for any home or office decor.
Fun Facts: Columbine (also known as Granny's bonnet) is known for its distinctive, bell-shaped, spurred flowers, which bloom from mid-spring to early summer. Scientific name: (Aquilegia). Other common names are: Rocky Mountain Columbine, European Columbine, Granny's Nightcap. Columbines, native to temperate climates in Asia, Europe and North America, are perennial flowers found in the meadows and woodlands. Columbines are also popular garden flowers, available in many colors, including red, yellow, white, pink and purple. Some are even bi-colored. They are also very fragrant. Columbines are bell-shaped and have distinctive spurred petals. The attractive dark green foliage is light and delicate. There are over 60 different species, even more if you count hybrids and are one of those flowers that can cross pollinate easily. Hummingbirds in particular love Columbine. This perennial wildflower will thrive in your garden, bringing a variety of color and a following of butterflies and birds with it. Wikipedia
