Description
"Mount Katahdin" is an original fine art landscape photograph by Sandra Huston.
This is my photograph of Mount Katahdin with Sandy Stream Pond in the foreground taken several years ago. I decided to retrieve it from my archives and update it with a few layers of artistic effects that resulted in this scene of Maine art decor with a textured finish.
Fun Facts:
Mount Katahdin is the highest mountain in Maine at 5,267 feet and was named Katahdin by the Penobscot Indians, which means "The Greatest Mountain". Katahdin is the centerpiece of Baxter State Park surrounded by 200,000 acres that encompass over 200 miles of trails and more that 50 ponds. Baxter State Park was a gift to the people of Maine by former Governor Percival Baxter with its prime mission to remain "forever wild". These acres also provide an abundance of quality Moose habitat and are spectacularly beautiful. Mount Katahdin also marks the northern end of the Appalachian Trail that starts 2,181 miles to the south at Springer Mt. in Georgia.
