Description
"Great Blue Heron and Juveniles Fishing" is an original fine art wildlife photograph and digital watercolor artwork by Sandra Huston.
I captured these birds while driving along the highway to Popham Beach State Park in Phippsburg, Maine late in September. They were fishing so intently that I was able to photograph them for nearly 20 minutes by standing next to our car and not distracting them by moving too much. At first I thought the white birds were little egrets but I believe that they are little juvenile blue herons. They seemed to imitate the Great Blue in each move it made. Nature at it’s finest for sure.
After uploading this photograph I decided to use my artistic license and added a digital watercolor and textured layer for the public to enjoy.
Honored to be featured in the following Fine Art America groups:

The great blue heron can adapt to almost any wetland habitat in its range. It may be found in numbers in fresh and saltwater marshes, mangrove swamps, flooded meadows, lake edges, or shorelines. It is quite adaptable and may be seen in heavily developed areas as long as they hold bodies of fish-bearing water. Wikipedia

Amazing how you captured a Great Blue Heron at the split-second of capturing prey, plus a few Snowy Egrets in the same image!!! They all do a fabulous job fishing, while humans have to use nets and poles, etc.
