“Framed Red Poinsettias” is an original holiday photograph and digital artwork by Sandra Huston.
Honored to be feature in the following Fine Art America and Pixels.com groups:
* Floral Photography and Art on 12/13/18
The showy colored parts of poinsettias that most people think of as the flowers are actually colored bracts or modified leaves. There are more than 100 varieties of poinsettias available today. Poinsettias come in colors like the traditional red, white, pink, burgundy, marbled and speckled. To date, all poinsettias were derived from a single species found in western Mexico named Euphorbia pulcherrima also known as Christmas Star. It derives its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico who introduced the plant to the US in 1825. In the United States, December 12 is National Poinsettia Day. So, to help celebrate National Poinsettia Day I have uploaded a series of poinsettias that I have photographed for the public to enjoy. This is #2 of a 4-part series featuring red colored poinsettias with a digital frame.
